Soil improvement agent for water saving will be showcased in SIFEL Morocco

Agadir, Morocco- November, 15th, 2017- Tottori Resource Recycling, Inc. Japanese foamed glass manufacturer through glass recycling technology, and its subsidiary Tottori Resource Recycling Morocco S.A.R.L (TRR group) showcase its water saving solution for agriculture at SIFEL 15th edition (La 15éme édition Salon International Professionnel de la Filière Fruit & Légumes) in Agadir, Morocco on 23rd to 26th November,2017.
Agriculture sector in Morocco accounts for13.6% of GDP, employing approximately 25% of working population. (Estimation of 2016, reference: CIA WORLD FACTBOOK). However, according to Citrus Producer Association in Morocco, the citrus production in 2017-2018 season is estimated to decline by 15 to 20%, equivalent to approximately 25 million ton, compared to last season due to lack of rainfall and high temperature during summer and beginning autumn. Securing water resource with less dependent on rainfall and sustainable water use, are issues for producers in arid or semi-arid zone in Morocco.
TRR group has conducted an experimentation of water saving agriculture with foamed glass ‘Porous Alpha’ since June 2015, at experimentation field in Souss Massa, Morocco, assisted by support program for Japanese SMEs’ overseas business development of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).
The experimentation realized 50% water-saving and more than 20% yield increaseat the experimentation station of Office Régional de Mise en Valeur Agricole du Souss-Massa. In addition, in 8 fields of 7 private producers, TRR group verified its performance on saving water, saving fertilizer and increasing yield since last season.
